Miguel Dela Cruz

Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, he studied at the National School of Fine Arts of Santo Domingo, DR. He has held numerous exhibitions in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico the United States and other countries around the world. In 1985 he won first prize for drawing in the young art contest held by the Arawak gallery, in Santo Domingo, DR. He was an art teacher for 20 years at the Ulanga House in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, where he was proclaimed the city's adopted son.

Currently, Miguel Angel de la Cruz's painting focuses in part on the daily life of citizens on the New York City train, their customs and how they take advantage of their time while traveling, some embroider, others draw, some fall asleep due to fatigue while others watch a clandestine show. These themes are worked in Acrylic and oil on plastic and canvas in a way that helps protect the environment. Which is very important to me to save lives.
