Linda Hiwot

Ms Hiwot’s canvas paintings and hand drawn prints are frequently collaged and constructed. she is noted for her use of color, shape and composition, and she has developed a personal idiom.

Grace Glueck of the New York Times said. “…so infused with key magical witchery, Latin-american style, is Ms Hiwot work that it can easily illustrate the great Garcia-Marquez novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude.” In her hands clouds assume portentous shape; trees and plants take on dimension of Gods and spirit, a rough road of shack dwellings might lead to a spiritual xanadu.

Ms Hiwot, though not new to the exhibition scene, retain a welcome fresh voice….
